Man pulls police officer from burning car after accident

A car accident in Uniontown, Pennsylvania, left a police car burning with the officer still inside. Fortunately, bystanders saw the crash and rushed over to the car. One of them pulled the man out of the burning vehicle, quite likely saving his life.

The officer was still badly injured in the wreck. After he was taken from the car, he had to be airlifted to Morgantown, West Virginia, for treatment at an area hospital. However, reports do note that the injuries were not considered life-threatening.

This was a two-car accident. The person in the other vehicle was also injured, but it was not as serious.

The bystander was having a Father's Day party when he and those in his house felt the jolt of the crash. He looked outside and saw that the police officer was pinned. That's when he ran out and freed him.

That bystander said that he felt like he could not leave the officer there, despite having a checkered past with law enforcement himself, because he felt like there were "still good people out there." In that moment, he just had to do what he could do, and he is being hailed as a hero because of his actions.

When asked about what his son had done, the bystander's father simply stated: "He loves people...he believes in humanity."

While this story does have a happy ending, it also illustrates how fast a serious accident can take place. Plus, even those who survive accidents may have serious injuries and high medical bills, so they need to know what legal options they have for compensation. An attorney can help them understand what they can do now.
